So many Mothers never get the thanks and respect they deserve. It is no surprise to see athletes or first time people on live TV to look in the camera and say ,"Hi Mom !" There is a very good long time friend of mine in Atlanta Georgia who decided that one Mother's Day a year was just not acceptable!
Dr. M and I were having a routine conversation discussing life in general and we started discussing his son's report card which had one A and 6 A+. He was so proud of his son and then told of how they realized how much time his Mother had spent night after night next to him with his homework after preparing a good warm dinner. The sacrifices she had given of her own time to make sure that he was finished with all of his studying and prepared for any test. And then of course a new day the next morning with clean clothes and a warm breakfast before school.
So Dr. M told me that he told his son that having just one Mother's Day a year is not enough since his Mother expends so much effort the other 364 days a year and helping both of them to be successful and loving them the way she does ! He and his son decided to start a tradition in the family and to have a Fall Mother's day acknowledging and appreciating her for being an incredible
Mother who spends whatever time it takes to make sure that there is love and efficiency in the house and family. Dr M told me that by the time he gets home late and unwinds that she has everything under control.
They decided to pick a Sunday a few weeks ago and to have the Fall Mother's Day. Her Mother was having Dinner with them so they bought two cards. There are no Mother's Day Cards in the Fall so they were able to improvise and make the card more special. For each special helpful thing she did like loving me --helping with my homework--snuggling with me--taking me to school etc. his son wrote these in the card and Dr M. suggested drawing a line to the side and putting an A+. They drew a line total at the bottom and his son decided to put 1 million for a total of her loving efforts. The stage is now set in tradition for A Fall Mother's Day and they will look forward to it every year.
Mothers are so special and we need to tell them as many times as possible how much we love them. My good friend and his son have really set an example for others to follow. To all you Mothers out there---we love you!!!
